The run down

NoblePro makes treadmills for runners who take their training seriously. They needed an app to go with them, so I designed Kinni. It talks to the treadmill and to other smart kits like heart rate monitors and foot pods, and pulls everything into one place. It’s a technical app, so the job was keeping all that data clear without making it feel like homework.

The session builder was one of the most crucial and complex elements. You shape a run by setting the speed and incline, save it, and the treadmill follows along. You could recreate the London Marathon without leaving the house, then run it again whenever you fancy.

The look is tactile and a bit paper-like, with texture running through it so it feels less like a cold screen. A stepped line that traces speed and incline became the app’s signature, and it shows up everywhere from the live run screen to the stats.
